We want you to feel safe at all of our events. Well, what we really
want is for you to have the best night of your life. We want you thinking
about this when you’re 105 and atomised into glitchy-hologram form and
you’re choosing to remember the lyrics to our version of Torn instead
of your own name.
For that to happen we need to create a welcoming, inclusive, awesome
environment, and we need everyone to be a part of that.
If you experience or witness someone violating one of our policies
(below), please speak to a member of the Maraoke
team or venue staff as soon as you can and we will solve the problem promptly and
discreetly. If something makes you feel uncomfortable, no matter how
minor it feels, report it and we will deal with it. We will be visible
through all of our events, either on stage or taking song requests, and
approaching us will not seem unusual.
If you don’t feel confident coming to speak to us directly, we have open
DMs on our BlueSky account
(@singmaraoke.bsky.social)
and monitor them through our events. Anything you tell us will be in
confidence. If there’s something you want to bring to our attention
after the event you can email us at
hello@maraoke.com.
Read, respect, enjoy, and we’ll see you on stage!
The Maraoke Team
Maraoke events should be a harassment-free event experience for everyone,
regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation,
disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We
do not tolerate harassment of event attendees, venue staff or event
organisers in any form.
If anyone engages in harassing behaviour, we retain the right to take
any action we deem appropriate to keep the event a welcoming environment
for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion
from the event with no refund.
Harassment includes, but is not limited to: Offensive comments related
to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability,
physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion. Deliberate intimidation,
stalking, or following. Harassing photography or recording. Inappropriate
physical contact. Unwelcome sexual attention. Advocating for, or
encouraging, any of the above behaviour.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply
immediately. Intoxication will not be accepted as an excuse.
If you experience or witness harassing behaviour, or if someone makes
you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it to a member of the Maraoke Team as soon as possible.
We will be happy to help you contact venue security, local law enforcement,
local support services, provide escorts, or otherwise assist you to
feel safe for the duration of the event.
Neither us nor our sponsors are exempt from this policy, so if there’s
anything about our behaviour or the event that makes you feel uncomfortable,
please let us know and we will listen and act on it.
